Ford Permanent Magnet Gear Reduction (PMGR) is Fords most common starter after 1991. When you dis- assemble it, you’ll notice the man made magnets instead of electrical fields and the 3 planetary gears in the middle. This starter is usually found on the 5.4 and 4.6 L. We call this one “open face” (OF) because of the exposed bendix gear in the front. The small terminal on the solenoid is on the left (looking at the back). This open face style is common on Ford trucks. Note : starters before 1995 have a push on terminal spade but must be updated to post style. Cut off spade from existing harness and install new ring terminal.
Kit includes: Solenoid, bendix, brush holder ass’y, bushings and snap rings.
