Description
6G8408WB
6G 135 amp Ford. Black with white voltage regulator. Slightly over 5″ inches center to center of thru bolts (see pics). Found commonly Freestar and Monterey. You know you have a 6G when you see the gray plastic bearing cover in the middle of the back of the alternator. Typical failure behavior is BAT light on-off inadvertently but voltages seem to be normal, or volt meter indicates erratic, short periods of no charge. These symptoms usually occur after 100K miles.
Build your own reman quality alternator with new rectifier ass’y (diodes), new high quality voltage regulator, front bearing, rear bearing, slip ring, tolerance ring and dust cover.
